This came up in conversation recently, and I thought that it was worth sharing
with you all.
A San Francisco library suffered a horrific act of vandalism - more than 600
books mutilated, most of them about gay and lesbian issues (along with books by
Gay Talese and books about the WWII bomber, the "Enola Gay"). The library's
response was commendable; they called on the community to turn the damaged
books into art.
