The blind painter and the Cartesian Theater

There's a great story in the New Scientist on a blind man who paints
realistic pictures of all sorts of scenes. The guy is able to accurately
render perspective, light, shadow, and a number of other visual qualities
in his paintings, despite being blind since birth.
