Hey!
Looks good, even in black and white, 50 years later.
This extremely rare series of illustrations to various books by Alexander
Kazantsev (one of the first Soviet science fiction writers) shows very
clearly what kind of future the communist dreamers preferred. Think cool
robots, intrepid explorers, brainy scientists, eerily Star Wars-like aliens
and a huge dose of humanitarian optimism.

Or why they are so unconcerned about the guy in freefall that their rocketship
is passing.
Katya: "Hang on, was that Gyorg passing us on Starboard?"
Ivan: "It better not be, he still owes us for the vodka bender."
or why she hasn't got a space suit on in this one...

The ghost of Gyorg's mother: "You should never have let him out drinking
late!"
Actually, it's also interesting that the guys seem to be attempting to lasso
her.
Cheers,
