"You’ve likely heard of origami (折り紙), the popular Japanese paper
folding art. However, you might not be familiar with kirigami (切り紙),
a variation of origami which involves the folding then cutting (kiru; 切
る) paper(kami; 紙). The art is also known as kiri-e (切り絵), a word
formed from the combination of kiru and e (絵), “picture”. You’ve
probably seen kirigami before without realizing it in the form of
greeting cards with cutout designs."

Great stuff.  Via Audrea Huff and CathiBea Stevenson.
