"In 2007, my British husband got a ticket for walking our dog Henry
without a leash in Washington, D.C. The National Park Service made it
impossible to pay the ticket. So, a newly minted citizen, Peter said
he’d wait for his day in court.
I told him that was most unwise and that he could end up in jail.
I was right."
Using privilege to expose systemic issues. People who are lucky enough
to be able to deal with the justice system with relatively low risk
should be commended for doing so on behalf of those who cannot be
expected to take the same course of action.
