"As you may have heard, last week we were sued for $15 million by Shiva
Ayyadurai, who claims to have invented email. We have written, at great
length, about his claims and our opinion — backed up by detailed and
thorough evidence — that email existed long before Ayyadurai created any
software. We believe the legal claims in the lawsuit are meritless, and
we intend to fight them and to win."
This is truly disgusting. It's been well-documented over and over again
that this crazy narcissist once wrote a program named "email" long after
email was already in widespread use, and now continues to claim that he
is the true inventor and everyone is just being racist by denying him
his supposed glorious place in history.
Techdirt does excellent work and has been willing to stand up to this
sort of baseless legal bullying and abuse, but it will come at a heavy
cost and they deserve every bit of support we can give.
