"The celebrated Australian children’s author tells how on her 117th
visit to the US she was suddenly at the mercy of Donald Trump’s visa regime"
The problem is that border control and customs staff don't value anyone
unless and until they find out they're a celebrity. Rather than treating
visitors politely in their role as a first official point of contact
with a representative of the country, they treat visitors rudely or even
cruelly. This has been going on for a long time before Trump, but of
course it's getting even worse now. Power corrupts.
And good on
Mem Fox for calling this shameful behaviour out and
refusing to accept it in future. Via Lionel Lauer.
