https://www.wired.com/story/the-paradox-of-universal-basic-income/
"Clearly income disparity is ripping the nation apart, and none of the
efforts or programs seeking to address it seems to be working. I myself
have been, for the past couple of years, engaged in a broad discussion
about the future of work with some thoughtful tech leaders and
representatives of the Catholic Church who have similar concerns, and
the notion of a universal basic income (UBI) keeps coming up."
Via Joi Ito, who wrote: "My thoughts about Universal Basic Income in my
Wired Column. And the headline that Wired chose is a bit misleading. The
punchline is that I don't think that there is enough evidence to know if
it will work, but that we should experiment. Also, that it is fraught
with partisan political issues in implementation."
