"A secret recording of parliament members in Iceland revealed who they really
were. What else are we not hearing from our representatives?"
Via Muse, who wrote:
Positions of power attract people whose sole interest are positions of power.
These people will worm their way into left-wing groups, right-wing groups,
even charity groups. Your group will never be immunie just because you are
“the good guys”. Because you are a group you have a certain amount of power,
and some people will lie and manipulate to get it. Vigilance is called for,
and a willingness to call these people out and remove them. Keeping them in
place for “unity” to avoid “internal politics” and conflict, etc is just
going to destroy your group and destroy your cause.
This is why I am working with people who are considering new ways to form
democracy. Democracy is not just about representation, it’s about sharing
power. That way no one person has so much power that they can abuse it in a
significant manner. We should probably explore having a sortition parliament.
