For both the computer and the TV, simply don't connect it to the
Internet. Don't plug in the network cable and make sure WiFi is turned
off. For laptops, in addition to the OS Network settings there is
sometimes a key combination you can press or even a physical switch on
some models that you can use to turn off the WiFi radio. At that point
it can only be attacked by people who are physically present. That can
still happen if it is left unattended or worse still stolen, so I
strongly recommend setting up hard drive encryption.
If you do need to occasionally connect to the Internet, you should be
sure to install all available software updates as soon as possible after
connecting.
