"Retail workers are being spat at, verbally abused and threatened with
physical violence as part of their daily jobs, in what has been labelled
an “epidemic”.
Across front-line workers in retail stores, supermarkets and fast food
restaurants, 85 per cent of staff say they’ve been verbally abused by a
customer – and 14 per cent say they’ve been victims of physical violence."
Via Muse, who wrote: "We have been taught that a good offense is your
best defense. Every man for himself. Do unto others and split. I have
run into people who on a number of occasions assumed that if you are
kind or gentle, then you are weak. We live in a culture of eat or be
eaten. There’s just not a lot of motivation to be considerate. This is
how we destroy ourselves. Who wants to live in this sort of world? We
have to change attitudes as much as find better solutions."
