"The phone interview was a lot like the nightmares that I had leading up
to it. I was asked to program Conway’s Game of Life in 45 minutes. I
actually did pretty well. I wrote the whole program and tested it to
prove that it was working. I got the rejection the next day. Internally
I was both crushed and confused. What had I done wrong exactly? Hadn’t
all of the challenges I did counted for anything? Why was I expected to
write such a challenging algorithm in so short a time?"
