definitely concerned about the workfare aspect of Jobs Guarantee. I’m
concerned about the virtue signalling that sometimes seems to come with
supporting JG: “We are the good people because we do the real work, you
are bad for not doing real work”. This of course pummels those who are
elderly, have a disability, struggling with mental illness, etc. I would
like to have a UBI AND have the government pay extra for various types
of community work, including staying home to care for children. I would
like the government to go back to hiring more people for essential
services, rather than our country relying on volunteers for essential
services. But I am not interested in make work programs. I am not
interested in enforcing square pegs into round holes, because all must
work or else, regardless of qualifications."
