"Many people are referring to the letter as being about “cancel
culture,” even though the letter itself never uses the phrase. But
everyone recognizes that the concept is what’s at the core of the
letter: the idea that someone will say something that “the mob”
considers beyond the pale, and suddenly they’re “cancelled.” We’ll get
to how realistic that actually is shortly."
