"I am an optimist by nature. Despite how dark or troubling a topic may be, I
always strive to find the positive. However, I must admit that this tendency is
being sorely tested lately when I read or watch the news. There are so many
examples of polarization, hate, discrimination, and pure intolerance out there.
One of the places I see this the most is when it comes to anything about the
LGBTQ community.
It is entirely disheartening to witness the sheer ferocity and persistence of
anti-LGBTQ movements. Scary to be quite honest! Bias and prejudice come out to
the forefront as forces seek to deny basic human rights to members of the
community."
