The reunion commences

I sometimes have a habit of drawing mostly things I have already drawn. On the plus side, it means the major characters and recurring backgrounds get to be well-rehearsed. On the minus side, it means I don't try new and interesting things enough.

This plotline, from summer 2000, is a big exception. Ozy's dad takes him to a Llewellyn family reunion, which means there are all manner of distant dragon relatives running around. The strip after it, which I almost ran today, features what I think is a pretty nicely-drawn Chinese dragon recalling an instance in which he insulted Mao.

This one, of course, features Ozy's uncle who is a caricature of Hunter S. Thompson, by way of "Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas." For some reason, a perpetually hallucinating dragon just strikes me as funny.
