Truth in advertising

Some strips are based on things that happen that strike me as very funny. Unfortunately, things don't always translate.

This strip grew out of my inability to speak French. A friend and I were eating French bread, and he observed to me that the package said "no additives or preservatives, just a simple recipe for pain extraordinaire." We spent the rest of the meal marveling at pain as a selling point for bread.

I don't actually think this strip is as funny as the incident that inspired it still is to me. Sometimes you just had to be there.
