Rug rat refers to how babies crawl around on the rug. Carpet shark refers to how you might only see the top of a head or bum as a baby crawls around behind the coffee table or poof (ottoman). I love the term because I always hear the Jaws theme as a baby crawls by, sending me into giggles thinking of a baby as a shark.
