"As of Monday, August 1st 2016, I began rereleasing my Audio Unit plugins for
free as Mac AU, and Mac and Windows VST2, beginning with the newest version of
the most popular one I ever wrote, Console. From now on, each new plugin and
each port to VST/Windows will be free to the community, and there's a funding
point where I will also open source the plugins under the MIT license allowing
hobbyists and companies alike to use my code. My full catalog with all 'classic
versions' includes over 250 plugins. All will eventually be free, if all goes
well.
At $400 a month, I'll install Ubuntu on the development machine where I make
the plugins (using a virtual machine) and get ready to add Linux VST to the
platforms I'm supporting."
