Maintenance is so, so important.  Without it everything succumbs to
entropy.  (Even, or perhaps especially, computer software!)

It's always sad to see things that aren't being maintained and are
falling into disrepair, because it's a sign of a place or an
organisation that no longer values the things they once spent so much
money and effort creating.

Conversely it's always uplifting to see something well-maintained, and
the older it is the more delightful it is that people have cared enough
to continuously look after it for all those years.
