"When it's lunchtime at school, Harrison Betts is among the first to race down
to a lower playground to kick the soccer ball around with his mates.
It's normally a healthy pursuit for the 10-year-old, until the winter months
tick around.
That's when homes neighbouring his Adelaide Hills school start to light up
their wood heaters.
Harrison has asthma and the smoke triggers asthma attacks.

their neighbours, the pregnant, elderly and children
* Asthma Australia wants wood heaters removed any time a home is sold, and wood
heaters banned from new builds
* The heaters contribute to around 40 per cent of the air pollution in Sydney
over the winter months"
We had two in our house (!) but already removed the open fireplace and replaced
it with a split system reverse cycle air conditioner. We’ve stopped using the
other wood stove.
