"From today people in New South Wales will no longer have access to a range of
single-use plastic items, after a new state government ban came into effect
overnight.
Lightweight plastic bags have already been prohibited in the state since June,
but now plastic straws, stirrers and cotton buds will join the list of banned
items.
A confronting ad campaign, including an image of a turtle choking on plastic,
has been part of the government push to inform residents about the new ban.
Here's what we know about the changes that came into effect on November 1."
