This is why it is Hobbits, mere Halflings, who bring about the destruction of
Sauron’s wicked empire.
They were fighting for the true cause of freedom — the right to live free from
violent coercion.
Orcs, by contrast, are unwilling slaves of Sauron.
And
yes, I said unwilling.
It’s buried a bit in the text, but Tolkien was quite clear in portraying the
Orcs as
wanting to go off and do their own thing, but being cowed by fear of
Sauron."
