"American Nazism seems to be this quiet beast that many are afraid to
acknowledge. To recognize the existence of the ideology, for the average
American, is to admit that some large subsection of American culture is in fact
steeped in concepts of White Supremacy and racial violence. For many, this
notion is rejected, and Nazism remains an abstract ideology associated with
Germany and the Second World War. However, this could not be further from the
truth.
For many, the image of American men marching over a Floridian overpass with
Swastikas in tow is a strange, and conflicting view. But it is an image that is
becoming far too common. Minds flash back to a time when Captain America comics
were all about beating Nazis into the ground and saving the world. Veterans
recount gun fights and war torn beaches, posthumous medals of honor for taking
on German soldiers. Yet here, almost a century after the war, the Nazi flag
waves on American soil, and there is no superhero cry to battle, no police
response, and certainly no declaration of war. Why?"
