'Molly has always had a vivid imagination and a love of costumes, but it was at
the height of Victoria's lockdowns when she first started creating characters
of her own.
"It gave me the time to just sit and draw random designs," Molly said.
From her bedroom in Churchill, in Victoria's east, the 16-year-old spends
hours perfecting her characters before bringing them to life through costumes
and games.
Dawn was Molly's first creation and the character she played in her very first
game of
Dungeons & Dragons (D&D).
"Dawn is an adventurous wood elf who commands a swarm of attack squirrels,"
Molly said.
"She initially had 10 squirrels but now she has 50-plus because they all kept
having babies."
Dawn's life started on the pages of a sketchbook.
But one day, thanks to the help of her cousin and a friend, the wood elf was
transported into reality through detailed costume design and character
development.
"She has a long black cloak, a bow and arrow, and a heart locket which she
found on one of her adventures," Molly said with a grin on her face.
"So I guess she kind of stole it."
There's a whole host of other characters too, including "Spaghetti the feisty
spider bear, Rowan the cursed princess, and Astrin the edgy tiefling".
While each character has a variety of unique traits and outfits, there are key
themes that tie some of her characters together.
"I love my brown-haired girlies," Molly said.
"Most have pointy ears, horns, and similar colour palettes — I love green!"
Molly has a large imagination and has always loved dressing up. She said
Dungeons & Dragons and cosplay had allowed her to take her passion for
costume design and magic a step further.'
