"This week’s brief is a wild ride. We start with good news: the US FDA
flip-flopped on its bad Moderna mRNA flu shot decision and decided to review
the company’s application after all. Hopefully this indicates approval, and
everyone will be able to access it.
Next, the extremely scary bad news: NIAID has been ordered by the Trump admin
to remove all biodefense and pandemic preparedness language from its website,
and will “deprioritize its traditional research pillars of HIV, biodefense, and
pandemic preparedness.” Not only does this kneecap any US detection or response
to the next pandemic, in my opinion it effectively marks the US as a serious
global public health threat.
