I know this looks bad, but...

Fans of the British TV show "Black Adder" will know that this joke structure is essentially stolen from the final episode of the second series (the Elizabethan one). Of course, my version involves less sex and more whipped cream.
I won't even pretend I didn't know I was lifting this particular joke. The simple truth is it was just too Llewellyn-esque not to borrow the format. Think of it as an homage...I at least tried to put my own stamp on it.
This strip is also a good example, visually, of something that happens in O&M a lot. The first panel has a background; it's only partly drawn in so as not to interfere with the characters, but it's fairly elaborate for all that. Then, in the subsequent panels, it's left to the imagination. This works in a comic strip and probably in no other medium.
