In 1995 Surf's Up was Australia's first book about the Internet. It sold out on its first week, and went on to two more reprintings. Amongst the media attention it received was a spot on the science show Beyond 2000, which was shown in Australia, the US, and elsewhere.

Surf's Up provided an accessible look into what the Internet was and how it worked, including reviews of the many types of sites and services available online.
