Peace Day 2018!

About Peace Day

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September.

Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

About the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected and it has been translated into over 500 languages.

Australia helped to write this document. Australia signed this document and subsequent treaties. The head of the UN at the time of the document's signing was Australian. This is our Declaration!

This year is the 70th anniversary of this document!
