Modem

A modem is used to connect one computer to other computers over a telephone line and in this way access electronic bulletin boards and the Internet. As well as being a major resource for examining other works of interactive fiction, the Internet is one of the richest treasure troves of information for the field of multimedia development that I could hope for with plenty of free software, bug fixes, updates, software and hardware specifications, hints and tips for making the best use of resources, advice, support and commercial contacts.

The modem I used to access these resources is a US Robotics Sportster Flash with a speed of 33.6 Kbps. It was the fastest modem I could purchase at the time, in order to facilitate my access to large files such as downloading new and beta test versions of various programs.
