"When I was in high school, there was one other girl who loved Star Trek
as much as I did. [...] These days, my geekdom is a much larger,
messier, and altogether more complicated club."

<sigh> well that was disappointing. i was expecting inspirational, but
all i got outta that was the rantings of "just another fangirl" lost in
the past. if there was supposed to be a point, it was lost in the noise.

I think you missed the point, then.  Recently there have been some lame
articles from people claiming that girls can't be real geeks, and this
was a response to that.

Hope that helps,

xanni me lad... i think someone needs to point out to the lass that a rant is
not an effective form of communication :P~~~~~

<shrug> preaching to the choir i guess... i work with 300 odd physicists and
engineers (software, mechanical and electrical). there's a few girls in the
mix.(looks around cubicle... yep i'm surrounded in enemy territory). rumour has
it that they may be geeky......(does gushing about the beauty of a parabola
count?). alas it's a work place divided, with the trekkies in one camp and the
starwars freaks in the other. i prefer third option... metalocalypse
