'Dumping a load of CO2 into the air is never free. It creates costs
across the board, from effects on climate (and thus on farmers, and
fishermen, and so on, and anyone in turn who needs to buy food from
them) to effects on health. However, these costs are very diffuse and
hard to account for, and thus often they aren't explicitly calculated.
In economics, this is what's called "externalization."'
Once again Yonatan Zunger provides a long but interesting post.
