"The Baird government has approved the expansion of the most aggressive
coal mine in the Special Areas of Greater Sydney's catchment despite not
knowing the compounding impact it will have on water supplies."
Poor long-term risk management, as usual. After all, long-term risks
will be some future administration's problem - not anyone currently in
office. That's why the environment nearly always comes last: by the
time the damage is clear, those who should have worked harder to prevent
or minimise it are long out of office.
