'Love can develop in the most unlikely circumstances.
For Danice and Ahmed, what began as an act of kindness led to a deep and
profound love. It's also meant more than a decade of anguish and heartache for
them both.
The Melbourne-based mother first met Ahmed in 2013 after her friend, Nazar,
asked if she could help someone he'd met when he was imprisoned. She agreed to
give him a call.
"Other than Naz, I didn't know anybody else in jail," Danice says.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would meet a life partner from
there. Like never."
Her friend Nazar remembers the first time he met Ahmed when they were behind
bars.
"My first impression of him was, he's very short, [a] very little bloke, but …
he's walking around like he's six foot tall," Nazar tells ABC RN's Earshot.
"He was just nice to everyone. He was liked by everyone. That's why I couldn't
understand why he was in prison. How did a judge even look at this guy and put
him into jail? How did he even end up in a fight?"'
Cheers,
