"APOPO is a global non-profit with Belgian roots, which trains African giant
pouched rats (nicknamed HeroRATs) to detect landmines and tuberculosis using
their amazing sense of smell. APOPO's scent detection technology has huge
potential to relieve human suffering and promote development when used in TB
and landmine response, as well as other fields, such as search and rescue and
wildlife trafficking prevention. APOPO works in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Mozambique,
Angola, Cambodia, and other countries."
