"The history of electric vehicles in Australia isn’t exactly long. While the
list of locally available EVs continues to grow, there is a forgotten pioneer
of electric cars in Australia.
Ask yourself this: what was the first-ever publicly available electric car in
Australia? Was it a Tesla? Maybe Mitsubishi? How about Chevy? What about
Nissan? Nope.
And it wasn’t a Hyundai, either. Although, you’d be forgiven for thinking that
it was after looking at the lead image in this story.
While the Mitsubishi i-MiEV – a car that is often wrongfully pinned as
Australia’s first EV passenger car – arrived in 2011, the Japanese offering was
predated substantially by something home-grown.
It’s called the Blade Electron, and dates all the way back to 2008."
