"Let’s talk about intersectional environmentalism. It’s a term you may have
heard thrown around a lot lately, but what exactly does it mean? Simply put,
it’s an approach to environmentalism that recognizes the interconnectedness of
social justice issues and environmental issues. It’s about understanding that
environmental problems don’t exist in a vacuum and that they often have a
disproportionate impact on marginalized communities.
So why is it important to discuss intersectional environmentalism? For
starters, traditional environmentalism has often been criticized for being too
white, too male, and too focused on the concerns of the global North. By
centring the voices and experiences of marginalized communities, intersectional
environmentalism seeks to create a more equitable and just approach to
sustainability.
In this article, we’ll explore the roots of environmentalism, the importance of
intersectionality in environmentalism, and how intersectional environmentalism
can be incorporated into our daily lives, policies, and industries. Buckle up,
folks — we’re in for a wild ride!"
Cheers,
