"If you are new here, welcome! Kuzko and Kronk are two little rescue rats that
we adopted back in August. Since then, we’ve been trying to give them the best
life we can.
Rats are very clever creatures and thrive on mental stimulation, problem
solving, tasty+healthy treats, and the company of other rats. Some of the
enrichment we provide them includes: garden boxes, pea fishing, interesting
structures to climb, cardboard box mazes to solve, etc.
Then, a couple months ago, my amazing dad surprised us with the rat rods! The
base plans are open source online, published by University of Richmond
researchers who found that rats raised in an enriched environment could learn
to drive tiny cars, and actually found the intellectual process of doing so
relaxing (measured by a decrease in stress hormones found in their poop!). My
dad took these open source plans and adapted them in order to engineer cars
that are more comfortable for our ratties (and so stylish! 🔥). These cars are
still the prototype phase, so thanks everyone for the related
interest/comments/ideas. :)
Now, onto the video! We have driving lessons with our rats 1:1 for about 10
minutes a day. The rat in this lesson is Kronk. 👆"
