"One unvaccinated child has died as a result of the Texas measles outbreak. RFK
Jr., who became the US Health and Human Services Director two weeks ago today,
downplayed the death and outbreak as “not unusual” and suggested there has been
a second death. More Texas cases have been reported and alerts issued in three
new counties. Some Texas parents are now choosing to vaccinate their kids.
The Texas outbreak has spread to New Mexico. An alert was issued this week
after a person in Kentucky went to a local gym while infectious with measles.
In New Jersey an unvaccinated child who recently traveled abroad was linked to
two new cases after exposing patients and staff at three separate medical
facilities (121 people).
On Twitter the CDC's Project Firstline issued guidance for “when and how to use
personal protective equipment (PPE)” advising the removal of masks/PPE in
“non-clinical areas including restrooms, break rooms, and administrative
areas.” Measles, Covid-19, tuberculosis, bird flu, and influenza are all spread
through the air. Yesterday the FDA vaccine meeting to determine 2025-2026
influenza vaccine composition (flu shots) was abruptly canceled, two days after
RFK Jr. canceled development of Covid vaccine in pill form.
Helen Branswell (
STAT News) posted yesterday, “No new #H5N1 #birdflu infected
herds for several days now. Does that mean no new herds? Or testing has been
slowed? Or results aren't being shared? I don't know.” Per news reports this
week, Trump US health officials team are poised to revoke a $590 million
contract for bird flu shots. In Canada, Ottawa has purchased 500,000 doses of
bird flu vaccine."
