"Imagine replanting various native species only to have them die because the
area is too hot or too dry. Or reconnecting woodland habitat only to lose large
tracts to bushfire.

Well, our new research suggests those scenarios are entirely possible.

We analysed the two most common ways to prevent overall biodiversity loss on
private land in Australia. We found these efforts largely ignore climate risks
such as fire, heat, drought and floods.

Climate change is already threatening the survival of species. Unless
conservation efforts are made more resilient to climate change, Australia’s aim
to to reverse biodiversity loss could fail."
