"BYD, one of the fastest-growing car makers and the world’s biggest battery
manufacturer, has deployed its first Flash Chargers in Europe, part of plans to
build 6,000 Flash Charging stations outside of China by the end of 2027, with
3,000 of them in Europe.
In China, the company has already hit over 6,000 stations. In a post on its
Weibo page, BYD shared data showing it’s about to surpass 30% of its planned
2026 rollout goal, with 6,400 sites in operation as of May 2026. These sites
span over 300 cities in China.
The Flash Charging system includes the company’s latest Blade Battery 2.0 with
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP).At room temperature, it can charge the new Blade
Battery from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. It can also charge these cars from
10% to 97% in 9 minutes at ambient temperatures.
In extreme cold temperatures of -30 C, a 10% to 97% charge takes around 12
minutes, which is a big boost in cutting charging times under these conditions.
BYD showcased this recently by having a site in a high-altitude area near Mount
Everest. In a post on Weibo, it said: “The world’s highest-altitude flash
charging station, BYD’s Mount Everest Flash Charging Station, provides a full
charge in 5 minutes and a full charge in 9 minutes, conquering the challenges
of high altitudes and overcoming altitude limits.”"
