"Norway has long been the world’s leading adopter of electric vehicles (EVs),
with a well established market share in the high 90s, and now another Nordic
neighbour has joint it at the pinnacle of the EV transition.

The latest data from Denmark shows that 97 per cent of vehicles bought by
private buyers in the month of July were full battery electric. A total of
14,562 new passenger cars were registered in Denmark in July, including 11,672
battery electric vehicles (BEVs). That accounted for 80.2 per cent of the total
number of registrations, and 97 per cent of private purchases.

“The electric car has become the natural choice for almost all Danes when they
buy a new car,” said Mads Rørvig, CEO of Mobility Denmark.

“When 97 percent of new cars for private individuals are electric cars, it
shows how far the green transition of the car market has come.”

It also paves the way for the next Danish milestone, with Mobility Denmark
expecting the number of BEVs on Danish roads to surpass the one million mark
early next year. This has been driven by increasing BEV popularity throughout
2026, accounting for 79.9 per cent of all new registrations through the first
six months of the year."
